About this artifact

This tool is a smaller version of the blubber hook and was used to pick up pieces of blubber by hand. It is constructed of a metal hook with a wooden handle. This blubber hook was used on the bark Wanderer, a vessel that wrecked off of Cuttyhunk island just north of Martha's Vineyard in 1924.
