About this artifact

A block works like a pulley and is used to change the direction of the rope lines. The term "chock a' block" refers to the position of the ropes, and when they can not be lifted any higher. In everyday usage, this term has come to mean that something or someone is stretched as far as they can be. Due to the small size of this block, it may have been given as a gift or simply as a decorative ornament.
