About this artifact

The Monohansett was built in 1862 by the New Bedford, Martha's Vineyard, & Nantucket Steamboat Co. It was a sidewheel streamer that operated as a ferry to Martha's Vineyard. The Monohansett made its first trip to the Edgartown wharf on June 1, 1862.
