Classics in Process

During the Jernegan children's childhoods, many authors were writing the books that have become today's classics. Once back in Edgartown, Laura and Prescott surely enjoyed Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden, Beatrix Potter's Tales of Peter Rabbit, Kate Greenaway's Under the Window, Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz, Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, and Anna Sewell's Black Beauty. All of these favorites were written in the late 1800s.
