I made what was called a log cabin quilt, did some fancy work and read a good deal, so the time seemed to pass quickly.

Some times we would speak a ship and get some late papers. but if it was a merchant ship they would not want to stop, and would only give the Latitude and Longitude.

The day we passed Cape Horn was pleasant and mild, it was a very high and rocky coast and was covered with Penguins.

After we passed into the Pacific ocean there was not so much rough weather.
