There were two port holes at the stern of the ship and Prescott and Laura used to climb up on the transome and amuse them selves by watching the sharks follow the ships. Some times they men would catch one. They were very large man eating sharks.

In March we sighted Juan Fernandez.

This is an island in the Pacific and is owned by the English.

There is a monument erected to Robinson Crusoe and three large caves where it is said he lived.

I went into them and picked some flowers that were growing on the sides.
