the oil to N. B. and fitting the ship we sail again for a cruise between Seasons. They caught several whales, and as it was most always warm and pleasant weather we enjoyed the cruise.

In December we went to the Marquesus Islands, the ships always stop here to get fresh water which is taken on board in barrels.

I was the first white woman who had ever landed on the islands and I was an object of curiosity to the natives.

They came on Board the ship to sell fruit, and one of the men gave Prescott a small black pig and it used to follow him round the deck. The natives wore no clothing and were tatooed all over.
